ON DISPOSABLE CAMERAS

On Disposable Cameras

PLEASE READ, EFFECTIVE MARCH 1 2022

Disposables used to be a really fun way for some people to get into film photography. I used to hand packs of them out often as secret santa gifts and party favors. Their vibe is undeniable. That being said, disposable cameras make no sense in the year 2022 and beyond.

When you drop off a disposable here, you will be charged a "um, save the planet much?" fee. Brings the total for one single disposable to $25. Yes, you read that right, keep reading. When you pay this fee, you will receive in return a "resposable" camera: a simple plastic film camera made in the style of a disposable but reusable, and it will come with a roll of film already inside. Type of camera and film will vary based on stocks. If dropping off multiple disposables, it will be only an additional $10 dollars per roll rather than another $25, unless you would like more resposables. Again, they're good gifts if you tell them they're reusable. If it's the last pictures you might have of granny or otherwise the camera is from a long time ago, again I will only charge $10. Or if you're really that broke just let me know.

Additionally, all disposable cameras that do get dropped off here will be sent off to be recycled directly into new disposable cameras. But I would like to be explicit:

I do not think you should be able to buy disposable cameras. That's why I'm doing this. $10 for development, $15 for a camera preloaded with film which you can reload? There's no way you can buy a disposable (ok MAYBE two) for any less than that anywhere. No extra shipping. Besides, the flashes in a disposable often die within a certain number of years, and the batteries are made inaccessible. Stop using them. Stop buying them. Only then they will stop making them.
